Data security and authorisations.
What permissions does SBB Mobile need and why?

Location
For connections from your current location, the GPS function must be activated so that SBB Mobile can find the nearest stop. This also applies if you want to have the nearest stop displayed in the timetable.

Calendar and e-mail
You can save connections in your own calendar and send them by e-mail (to friends, an external calendar). SBB Mobile requires read and write permissions to be able to import your desired connection into the calendar.

Access to the camera
SBB Mobile requires access to your camera to take pictures directly in the app for your personalised touch timetable.

Internet access
SBB Mobile requires internet access to search the timetable as well as for ticket purchases.

Memory
To support offline functions, e.g. station/stop list, connections (history) and purchased tickets, SBB Mobile requires access to your device’s memory (saving app-specific settings).

Pros and cons of SBB Mobile app for iPhone and iPad

SBB Mobile app good for

I would really appreciate if you would implement also the possibility to purchase international tickets (like to italy)
Very useful to find train schedules and buy tickets and use on the train in lieu of paper tickets. Doesnt let you buy a travel pass though.
I used this for my whole trip and it never let me down. I heard other travelers complaining about other apps. This one had up to date info with warnings, changes highlighted in red, and even included al public transportation. Coolest part was that it even told you were you were on the train route so you could keep track of how many more stops before yours. Very good app!!
This app is essential for any Swiss person. Works fantastically.
This is a great tool if you travel within Switzerland. Easy to use and accurate.
This app looks like it will come in handy during business trips to Switzerland. One comment I wanted to make is that the departure/arrival toggle switch is color coded opposite that of the iPhone settings where typically blue indicates the active selection.

Some bad moments

Be careful, this application orders tickets by itself without your approval, and when you say that to customer service, they just say that the will not cancel the ticket and thats it.
The app looks nice but there are too much session problems bugs and the screens are sometimes in English then they switch back to German. The tickets bought from sbb.ch dont even show up in the app!!! Not very useful.
I bought a ticket but the last stage of server contact was hanging, although I had a stable wifi connection. I never got any info whether the ticket was bought or not, the app always showed "no tickets". So I bought the (needed) ticket via the web. Later I discovered that my credit card was charged for the ticket from the app, but still no sign in the app itself nor any email etc. So I had payed the ticket twice. The support staff was helpful and refunded but kept 10CHF saying that they made me a favor... Unacceptable in my opinion, since the product was not delivered. A second request for full refund was denied. I deleted the app and will try to get my money back!
Watch out, the price you pay for the ticket shown in the App may not be correct. Depending on the way you travel you will be charged a surcharge!! The price ultimately does NOT depend on your destination but on the exact distance you travel with an SBB train. The App does not reflect this complicated pricing mechanism, but always shows the cheapest price. Therefore, be ready to pay the extra price (in our case 96 CHF instead of 82 CHF (!) for a one-way ticket Zurich-Martigny).
I used to rely heavily on this app, now it is almost useless. It always shows all departure times as "NOW" for all trains. I have deleted the app, rebooted my phone, reloaded the app to no resiolution. :-(
Used to love this app. Worked perfectly. Now I get lots "unknown error occurred, please try again later" messages when I try to search for a route. Also has trouble finding the right station and the timetables dont work consistently. Hopefully they work the bugs out! I used to depend on this app as Im new to the country.
